The Village of Flossmoor believes that local businesses are a valuable and important part of our community, and Flossmoor welcomes opportunities for business growth and development. Flossmoor has four major commercial areas: Downtown Flossmoor, Southwest Flossmoor, Flossmoor Commons and Governors Triangle:

  • Downtown Flossmoor is a vibrant central business district, home to a mix of small businesses, government buildings, multi-family and single-family housing and a modern Metra Electric station. In the late 1990s, the historic train station was redeveloped into Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery, which is an award-winning craft brewery destination for customers from around the region. Nearby stand-alone and multi-tenant retail locations are available at this time. The Village also owns an .88-acre property that is steps from the popular commuter train and is ideal for a transit-oriented multi-use development.
  • Southwest Flossmoor is the newest commercial area in Flossmoor, which is located at the corner of Vollmer Road and Crawford Avenue. It is anchored by a Meijer Superstore that opened in 2016. The site has direct access to a major interstate and Vollmer Road, which is a main artery for people traveling eastbound. Recent infrastructure improvements to streets, sewers and water in this area were paid for with Village TIF funding in excess of $685,000 to facilitate future development. Four outlots have yet to be developed within the Meijer subdivision. The Village of Flossmoor also owns approximately 30 acres of land east of the Meijer store and is seeking a development proposal for the property.
  • Flossmoor Commons is located along Vollmer Road between Governors Highway and Kedzie Avenue. More than 30,000 vehicles pass Flossmoor Commons each day. Flossmoor Commons is home to office tenants, restaurants, retailers and an independent specialty grocer — all regional destinations for shoppers. There are a few retail and office spaces currently available in Flossmoor Commons.
  • The Governors Triangle is a prime office and professional service development. Existing uses in the area include Flossmoor Animal Hospital, the Center for Dental Excellence and other small businesses. This area is conveniently located across from the University of Chicago Medical Center, which is a large regional medical and urgent care facility. The Village of Flossmoor owns several parcels in this area and is seeking development proposals to expand services.
