Navasota is a growing community of 8.37 square miles located in southwestern Grimes County, east of the Navasota River. While it is a small town that retains its rural character and high quality of life, Navasota is the perfect distance to many metropolitan areas with convenient access to several means of transportation, making it a key location for economic development. Transportation via car, plane, train, or ship is possible here, making product distribution convenient and expedient for businesses of all kinds.

Navasota is just 30 miles south of Bryan-College Station and 71 miles northwest of Houston, with Texas State Highway 105 passing east-west through the center of Navasota and Texas State Highway 6 passing north-south through the eastern side of the city. The Navasota Municipal Airport is located approximately 2 miles southwest of Downtown Navasota on Highway 105 West. The city is also located 22 miles from Easterwood Airport (CLL), 67 miles from George Bush International Airport (IAH), and 82 miles from William P. Hobby Airport (HOU).

Navasota has a thriving business community, with over 1,500 working in major local industries alone. There are many development sites available, a local workforce office, a live community theatre, a large number of city-owned parks for outdoor entertainment, golfing at Pecan Lakes Country Club, downtown shopping & city hall plaza, and a variety of dining options. Navasota was awarded Train Town USA designation by Union Pacific Railroad and is certified by the Texas Department of Agriculture as a GO TEXAN Certified Retirement Community. In 2005 the Texas legislature designated Navasota as “The Blues Capital of Texas,” as Navasota is where blues musician Mance Lipscomb was born and lived.

Downtown Navasota has also received significant attention over the last few years including the addition of a new public parking lot, streetscape improvements, street reconstruction, drainage improvements, sidewalk replacement, landscaping, and enhanced lighting. With the renovations that have taken place along Washington Avenue and Railroad Street have come several new shops and events to Downtown Navasota, including Texas Birthday Bash, the Navasota Freedom Festival, and semi-annual wine walks hosted by downtown merchants and the Chamber of Commerce.

Navasota takes pride as a clean, relaxing, safe community and is a growing suburban area where commercial development and residential communities grow and prosper. The City of Navasota partners with the Navasota/Grimes County Chamber of Commerce, Brazos Valley Council of Governments, Central East Texas Alliance, Navasota Independent School District, and Grimes County, along with working with existing and new businesses to ensure our economy is strong.
