The City is 7.7 Miles from the City of McAllen, 8.5 miles from Edinburg, 26.5 Miles from Harlingen and 43.5 miles from Brownsville. It is immediately neighbored by the City of San Juan to the west, the City of Edinburg to the north, the City of Donna to the east, and the City of Pharr to the south.

The City of Alamo was established in 1909 and incorporated in 1924.
